Step to install a PABX system

Failure of this system is always noticed first and many people, organisation are so used to it, without they feel handicapped. So, while installing PABX system, one must plan properly. Installing such systems can be a long and complex process, which is why many people choose to use public telephone service provider. After a quick visit to a website such as O2.co.uk, you can gain access to a similar set-up, which had been professionally installed. However, when this isn’t possible or suitable, you can follow certain steps in order to install a PBX system yourself.
I am trying to list out some tasks to be done while installing a PBX :-

1. Survey the premise and make diagram

Before undertaking any installation work, one must inspect the premise and identify the area where the PBX machine will be installed. The area where PBX machines would be installed should be well protected all around from rain. It should be air conditioned area. Power back, power connections and earthing must be checked and verified. Earthing is very important for any PBX machines to work. The room should be dust free.
After that, one should make a connection diagram clearly mentioning the PBX modules like, PBX machine, Computer for programming and monitoring or CTI application, battery connection, MDF.
2. Wiring for extension lines
Once the connection diagram is complete and layout is finalised, wiring for extension lines shuld be undertake. One should always keep in mind for future enhancement and redundancy should be maintained. If any room or hall has requirement of X connections, preferabbly, number of wires/connections terminated in that room or hall should be twice of X.
Wiring should normally sealed always. If wires are not sealed, than probability of cable cutting or disconnection would increase. These kind of small problems become very irritating for users as well as PBX suppliers.
3. Programming of PBX machines
Once the wiring is complete, the PBX machine should be configured. All required features, number plan, lst of extension lines should be properly documented and stored safely. Every extension should be numbered on MDF and stored for any future reference. Once all these numbering and tagging are complete, it should sealed properly and no un-authorised person should be allowed to make any changes.
Once all programming, configuration of the PBX is complete, it should checked and verified. Once it is completed, the programming data should be backed up and stored for future restoration if any problem occurs.
So, these are three steps, one must follow while installing and commissioning a hardware based PBX machines in client premises. There are more minute details and tips for installation of PBX machines. Also it may vary from one PBX to another. Smaller PBX machines could be installed in matter of hours, but larger PBX systems need proper planing and documentation
